Departing residents

After terminating your rental agreement, you should begin preparing for your move. Guidelines for returning keys and completing the final cleaning when moving out.

Do the final cleaning

Clean the apartment thoroughly. The apartment must be cleaned by 12 noon on the official move-out day to allow the new resident to move in. Ensure there is enough space for both those moving in and out.

Cleaning instructions also apply to shared areas in shared apartments. If shared areas are not cleaned, cleaning expenses may be charged to the departing tenant.

Empty and lock the storage unit

Empty, sweep, and lock your storage unit with AYY’s lock. Return the key to the service office. If you have used your own lock, please replace it with AYY’s lock and pick up the lock from the service office during opening hours (see the opening hours). Do not leave the storage unit door open. Return the key to AYY’s lock, along with the other keys, to the service office.

Please note! If you live in one of the following locations: Arkadiankatu, Haarniskatie, Kääpiöidenpolku, Kaj Franckin katu, Rummunlyöjänkatu, Otaranta or Jämeräntaival and you are handing over the keys to the new resident, you must return the storage unit key to the service office.

Deposit refund

Your deposit will be refunded to the account provided in the Domo system within approximately one month after the end of your rental agreement, provided that all obligations have been met, no damage has been caused to the apartment, and all facilities under your responsibility have been emptied and cleaned.

Return the keys

Please return the keys no later than the official move-out day, which is the first weekday following the end date of the lease. This also applies to AYY’s internal apartment transfers.

Key handover with the new resident

You can arrange the key handover to the new resident by using the key handover agreement. Your responsibility for the apartment and rent payment remains until the end of the tenancy. Therefore, we recommend you hand over the keys to the new tenant as close to the end of your lease as possible.

Recycle unnecessary items

We recommend recycling unwanted items before moving out.

Leaving belongings in stairwells or communal areas is prohibited due to a fire safety risk. Storing items in corridors is also prohibited under the Rescue Act. If AYY has to remove your items, you will be charged for all associated costs.
