Division of responsibilities chart

As a resident, you are responsible for the maintenance of the apartment and for any damages. The division of responsibilities chart clearly explains which maintenance and repair tasks are your responsibility and which are AYY’s. Before submitting a service request, please check the chart to see who is responsible for addressing the issue.

Parking

Parking spaces can be rented close to almost all of AYY’s properties. If you need a parking space, please contact the Housing Services 

Car rental prices vary by destination.  In Teekkarikylä, a parking space with an electric pole costs, for example, 15 € / month and a place without an electric pole costs 8 € / month.

The parking spaces at Maapadontie is controlled by the maintenance company of the property.

Pets

Pets are allowed in studios and studio rooms in a shared apartment, two-bedroom and bigger apartments. Please note that pets are not allowed in single rooms in a shared apartment, even for short periods of time.

Home maintenance

Residents are responsible for home maintenance: cleaning, floor draing cleaning, changing light bulbs and fuses, and reporting defects.

Home pests and how to control them

Residents are required to immediately report any pests they detect via a defect report form and follow the instructions provided by the pest control company. Following the instructions is crucial for successful pest control and preventing the spread of pests. If the tenant reports pests immediately, the control visit is free of charge. 

It is important for pest control to focus on prevention. Cleaning the kitchen, storing food items properly, cleaning the bathrooms regularly, and disposing of waste carefully will go a long way. However, sometimes carefulness is not enough, as you may bring uninvited guests along with your groceries.    

Cleaning instructions for common facilities in shared apartments

All tenants in shared housing share equal responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of common facilities. When using common facilities, each resident is responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Common facilities should be cleaned regularly. If they are not maintained, a cleaning suggestion and notice may be sent to all residents.

It is important to keep common facilities clean for everyone’s comfort in shared housing. If you notice any shortcomings, please first discuss the matter with other residents and agree on shared cleaning routines.

Cleaning checklist

Daily

  • Wipe the stove and kitchen surfaces immediately after use
  • Wash the dishes immediately after use – do not leave them in the sink!
  • Take out the rubbish as needed
  • Keep the shared fridge tidy

Weekly

  • Wipe dust and remove any splatters or stains from all surfaces in the apartment
  • Vacuum or sweep the floors in the shared areas, and wash them if necessary
